Heapster Predictions

Carlene: It’s really anyone’s guess.
Winner: Frost/Nixon

David:
Winner: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Yaschuk:
Winner: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button/The Dark Knight

Marshall:
Always hard to say without having seen an original cut of the film to see exactly how good an editor is. I’m going to guess that “Button” is going to win, but I thought of all the nominees “Frost/Nixon” had the best. It could also go to “Dark Knight” but I know lots of people complained about the chase scenes were not cut together very well.
Winner: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Kevin:
Tricky business this one. I will say Slumdog Millionaire though.
WInner: Slumdog Millionaire

Tyler:
Hands down, Slumdog Millionaire.
WInner: Slumdog Millionaire

Grant:
I always think that movies like this are really tough to edit… and even though I may be dazzled by the glitz and the glam, I am still going to pick it!
Winner: The Dark Knight

Our Prediction

Slumdog Millionaire

Changeling (2008): Tom Stern
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008): Claudio Miranda

Heapster Predictions

Carlene:
Ok, I’ll give that Benjamin Buttons another one of my guesses. it was a beautiful looking movie.
Winner: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

David:
Winner: Changeling

Yaschuk:
Winner: Slumdog Millionaire

Marshall:
I really hope “Dark Knight” takes this, but I’m almost certain that “Button” will win.
Winner: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Kevin:
My heart is screaming Dark Knight because of the job they did making Gotham City come to life. But I know that all round, Slumdogs cinematography was the superior job.
Winner: Slumdog Millionaire

Tyler:
It probably won’t get it but it’d be well deserved if it went to The Dark Knight.
Winner: The Dark Knight

Grant:
Again… a movie like this makes me think “GOD DAMN… THAT WOULD BE HARD TO SHOOT!”. They were able to shoot an action movie, and yet still keep it beautiful.
Winner: The Dark Knight

How “Dark Knight” is not in this category I will never understand. However, I think this should go to “Slumdog.”
Winner: Slumdog Millionaire

Kevin:
Grant please provide my opinion for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published.
Winner: Speed Racer

Tyler:
Winner: Slumdog Millionaire

Grant:
I love Shanley but I have a small problem with people adapting their own work and getting nominated for this. He already won the pulitzer for this!!! COME ON MAN!!! That being said, I would be really happy if he won!!! I just don’t think it is going to happen.
Winner: Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog Millionaire

Winner: WALL·E

David:
Winner: Milk

Yaschuk:
In Bruges (this movie is criminally under-nominated)
Winner: In Bruges

Marshall:
I love that “In Bruges” was nominated. A very under-appreciated film. I think “Wall-E” should win, because it is near perfect. However, I would not be surprised if “Milk” won.
Winner: WALL·E

Kevin:
Based on everything I have heard Milk will have to win best original screenplay.
Winner: Milk

Tyler:
Tough category. But I was very impressed with Milk, in particular.
Winner: Milk

Grant:
I have had a feeling that this is going to be the winner for a while now, and I think the award is going to go to Milk as a way of saying “Sorry… I didn’t vote for this movie for anything else… but here you go.”
Winner: Milk

Our Prediction

Milk
