Watchmen
The most highly anticipated movie of the year thus far drops this weekend, and when this WR drops, most of the hardcore fans will have already seen it at midnight. But for those of you that haven’t seen it…
This flick is the film adaptation of the greatest comic book of all time… this is not my opinion, this is just the general consensus of the people that know these things! I AM NOT MAKING IT UP… Google it.
BUT, can they turn such a movie, that has been in developmental hell for years, into a great or at least good movie?! It is such a tall order… and I have had my doubts…
Whether or Not?!: YES! GO!!!
The doubts I had, were doubts that were laid to rest with the first trailer. This movie is so visually stunning, and so incredibly and (very importantly) character driven, that it will do a great job of encompassing the complexities of the book.
The fact that these things can be passed through to me in a trailer, really made me happy. The chances that this movie is going to be bad are small. The chances that this movie will be amazing are pretty good. But I KNOW 100% that is is going to worth a watch no matter what.

Horsemen (limited release)
The way this year is going, one great movie coming out in a weekend would be awesome… HELL a mediocre movie would be great, but this weekend we are treated to definitely one great movie (Watchmen) and maybe this one can fill in and make it so that we have two great movies? For those of you that don’t know about this movie, it is essentially just like Taken but … um… more hardcore!
Essentially, it is a serial killer thriller, where the killer is linked to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse…
Whether or Not?!: YES!
Man this looks like a combination of Seven, Jack the Ripper… and other cool freaking things. This movie definitely looks like it can build on the steam of Taken, and keep taking us to a place where the thriller is good again… consistently… I remember those days!

My prediction was… DARN close…
I really predicted that Slumdog Millionaire would increase this weekend, mostly because i thought that more people would be looking for an alternative to a comic book movie, but i was wrong… It was a prediction that i went out on a limb with because most people had Slumdog around 8 million this weekend behind Madea, but it is possible that with my bias against madea that i tried hard to find something to take second from it.
Also 55 million for watchmen is a giant disappointment, but i think that stems from people not really thinking about how much an R rated flick will do without the underaged kids not being able to get in, or people not taking their kids to the show out of fear of blue penis. So i think the industry just inflated the watchmen up to such lofty box office expectations that were just implausible in retrospect.
Over all i am happy with how the weekends box office ended up!
